Our Background

Establishment of APFPD

Parliamentarians from 28 African countries agreed to establish an African Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development to "drive the population and development agenda on the continent".

This followed a three-day consultative meeting from 2-5 December 2012 in Johannesburg under the theme, "establishing a sustainable parliamentary forum on population and development in Africa", which was supported by the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA and Union for African Population Studies (UAPS).
